Common Kitten Ailments
Other Kitten Ailments
The most common eye problem of kittens is conjunctivitis because it occurs in association with several of the common respiratory infections.
You may only see an increase in tearing with no other signs of illness and in many cases this will clear in three to seven days.
If there is an excessive amount of sticky yellowish discharge from the corner of the eye this is a sign of a bacterial infection that needs to be seen by a veterinarian.
In severe cases the eye may be swollen shut and what you can see is red and inflamed. When the eye is opened it may appear cloudy. A warm compress placed lightly over the eye may reduce this until a veterinarian can be consulted.
