The Benefits of Having Mom

When a kitten suckles on mom he/she receives antibodies that help them fight some diseases and bacteria that hand raised kittens do not receive. In the first twenty-four hours the motherís first milk is colostrum, which is rich in antibodies to help protect kittens from illness during the first few weeks of life. Kittens will also be larger if mom is nursing them since they have a constant supply of milk. If possible the kittens should stay with mom at least 3 weeks.
